Figure 2: The Three Types of Business Analytics
This final unit explores the field of Business Analytics. We will begin by examining the nature of managerial decision-making and how analytics can support it. We will then walk through the business analytics process, from defining the problem to communicating the results. The core of the unit will focus on the three main types of analytics: Descriptive Analytics (what happened?), Predictive Analytics (what will happen?), and Prescriptive Analytics (what should we do?). Finally, we will look at the tools used to present analytical findings in a clear and compelling way.
